Psychotherapy

At Renee Applebaum, Ph.D., P.C. psychotherapy is provided to assist individuals in coping with emotional and behavioral effects of a brain injury or neurological disorder as well as chronic pain. Individuals with these conditions often find themselves struggling with adjustment difficulties in everyday living. Treatment is aimed to assist individuals in managing associated depression, anxiety, self esteem issues and relationship problems associated with these complex medical conditions.

Psychotherapy is also frequently offered at our clinic to assist individuals in coping with psychological trauma or a Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. Psychological trauma can be devastating and debilitating. Cognitive behavioral therapy is a well researched and effective intervention for post traumatic stress reactions that is utilized in sessions typically scheduled on a weekly basis or more frequently when necessary. The goal is to neutralize the stress reaction and relieve symptoms of psychological trauma.

Finally, psychotherapy is offered at Renee Applebaum, Ph.D., P.C. to assist individuals in dealing with chronic pain that can be debilitating and significantly detract from the quality of life of the affected individual and their loved ones. We offer education and intervention that help relieve and manage physical pain. We attempt to work closely with physicians to complement medical interventions.

Our goal via psychotherapy is to assist individuals in improving emotional adjustment and to use internal and external resources to transcend obstacles and alleviate negative emotions/behavior that may be interfering with the ability to function.
