ADHD Coaching

Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is a condition where a person has trouble focusing, can get distracted easily, has difficulty with organization and time management, and at times one can become overly focused on very specific tasks. The diagnosis of ADHD is often best confirmed via comprehensive neuropsychological evaluation. The symptoms of ADHD can include much more than hyperactivity, impulsivity and inattentiveness, however. People with ADHD often have trouble tolerating frustration, being flexible, and solving their problems independently. Problems in daily life can include difficulty organizing, planning, managing time, managing finances, managing relationships, performing at school or maintaining a job.

ADHD coaching is a practical intervention that specifically targets the core impairments of ADHD. We will address specific needs and personal goals while trying to help you carry out practical activities of daily life in an organized, goal-oriented and timely fashion. We will also provide education regarding how the symptoms of ADHD impact your daily life. ADHD coaches support clients by providing encouragement, feedback and practical suggestions to address specific challenges as well by supporting them and holding them accountable for following through on their goals. ADHD coaching assists clients to stay focused on their goals, face obstacles, address core ADHD-related issues like time management, organization, and self-esteem, gain clarity and function more effectively.

Regular meetings and check-ins are an essential part of the coaching process. These sessions can be conducted in person, virtually online or by phone, depending on the client’s preference. However, before the coaching process begins, the client and the coach will have an initial session to evaluate the client’s needs, expectations of the client and of the coach, fees and payments and length of time for the coaching contract. ADHD coaching is generally not covered by health or other insurance plans. Please contact our office regarding out of pocket fees for this service.
